There are no boundaries, no barriers, that cannot and will not be torn down. What's important to me is a connection. Everyone sometimes finds themselves in a "relationship" with the music. It's something they "relate" to. Or atleast that's what people would like to guess the connect is between them and the music they listen to. Rest assure, it is a relationship but it goes deeper than that. There is a definite distinguishable difference between a talent and a gift. Shoot, America's Got Talent, but what about the musically gifted? Was there just a "time" for such things? Can we no longer appreciate God's given gifts that have been blessed upon everyone in this dying world? We no longer RELATE to the truly gifted. The way we weight talent against gifted is curved to unfavorable and cheating results. True in a sense that if you are in fact gifted, you probably don't have to study hard for life's test, however, you were born passing in a world that fails you everyday. So can't everyone relate to defeat? The agony of it is too familiar for some of us. So much, that it is accepted. I'm urging you to MAX OUT on your failures and DECLINE your defeats and give CREDIT where it is due. Change your relationship status with your music; It's complicated sometimes, just admit it! Or maybe change who you are in a relationship with. Chances are, you've been in it for a minute and things aren't looking to well. Too many disappointments, too many let downs. But this is something you feel is worth fighting for; something you WORSHIPPED. But check this out: The value of a U.S. dollar was two pennies rubbed together during recessionary times and is slowly recovering: MONEY WILL FAIL YOU; MONEY MAKES A LOUSY GOD. There's too many ways to die on accident but a vast amount people are killing themselves knowingly for the sake of pleasure. For the feeling of being wanted. For lust but it ultimately leads into self-destruction: SEX WILL FAIL YOU; SEX MAKES A LOUSY GOD. Achievement is a goal on every productive mind. It is only when one's pride gets in the mix that it becomes dangerous for one to have dominion over something. Ruthless ruling, as history has always proved, has resulted in revolt and exile of the one in power. There is no safe end to corruption and greed. POWER WILL FAIL YOU; POWER MAKES A LOUSY GOD. The world listens to their mood-setters, their party-starters, their wine & dines, their light-one-ups to's, their ish, their jam, their tunes, their chill, their spins, their breath of fresh air, their get-it-crunk, their hyphy, their fight music. Music; it ties itself around every nerve in your body and invokes feeling. It accents and compliments your moods and your situations. It cannot give you emotions, but it can heighten your emotional tendencies. It reminds of you of better times....which will ALWAYS be back in the day and never the present. Why? Because it changes on you. Or maybe you changed on it. Or maybe someone changed it for you. Perhaps, it's all because you changed for someone or something else. Someone or something greater. So could it be? MUSIC WILL FAIL YOU? MUSIC MAKES A LOUSY GOD? Indeed it does. You see, the one thing that never fails us is one thing that we run from. The one thing that we constantly try to replace in our lives but are still left unfulfilled. We've been disappointed so much, that we don't even see what God has done anymore. He works through everything, especially music and writings. Why do you think those things connect so well with us? Don't us rappers write "verses"? For those of us who've learned prayers (Lord's Prayer, Grace) doesn't the prayer have a rhythm to it...you know, like a song? Whether you grew up in the secular world or not, if you were taught how to pray you were taught through song, rhyme, and/or dance. There's no doubt that there is a connection between God and music but man, it's so hard to see that these days. We're too busy seeing money, power, and sex as God but they are far from it. There are a ton of gifted writers and singers and performers out there and on here. They don't stand a chance against a world of failure that doesn't understand how success should be treated and who should be praised for it. (Not just when they win something but right now!) My music speaks for itself. I do my best to speak from the perspective of a man who loves Christ and deals with everyday life with people who don't know Him or care to. hydroplanes is the big project on that very subject. The music on this page is a follow up about forgiveness; forgiving others, asking for forgiveness, and forgiving yourself. All things I have done and am still doing. I pray you find comfort in the melodies and security in my words, fulfillment in my content, and assurance in my songs. Thanks for reading and listen. Van
